Stronger Ties With KOREATECH

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 January 2016 – Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Korea University of Technology & Education (KoreaTech) sealed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today with the aim of establishing stronger ties among both institutions. The memorandum calls for collaboration in exchange of academicians and students, development of academic and professional training programmes and partnership in areas of research, social and culture between UniKL and KoreaTech.
UniKL Pro Chancellor and Chairman, YB Datuk Adham Baba led high level officials from UniKL in welcoming delegates from KoreaTech represented by its President, Dr. Ki-Young Kim and Dean of External Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Sang-Soon Lee. Prof. Signing the document for UniKL was its President / CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr Mazliham Mohd Su’ud and KoreaTech by Dr. Ki-young Kim.
UniKL’s first contact with KoreaTech began in 2014, when UniKL received students from Korea in a cultural exchange programme with some of them coming from KoreaTech. The relationship was further enhanced when a team of delegates from UniKL led by YB Datuk Dr Adham Baba visited KoreaTech in November 2015.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham while addressing the guests remarked, “The memorandum of understanding would lead to exchange of faculty and students as well as collaboration in joint projects. The linkage is a significant step taken by UniKL in promoting higher education through international linkages especially in both countries”. He expressed his belief that academic collaboration can be an important contribution to enhancing higher education in Malaysia.

KoreaTech was established in 1991 by the Korean Government focusing on industry-university based education emphasizing on practical training. KoreaTech runs more than 200 programmes and boasts more than 90 university partners worldwide. Joon Ang Daily, a reputable newspaper in Korea has ranked KoreaTech as the No.1 University in “Industrial-Academic Cooperation and it is also ranked No. 1 in Graduate Employment Rate among Korean universities. This collaboration will see the participation of UniKL MFI, UniKL MIIT and IPS in their respective niche areas with KoreaTech.
