DESCRIPTION

This programme offers the students an introduction to the world of animation, focusing on the development of both technical and management skills, while enhancing the students’ innovation and creativity at the same time. Throughout the programme, students will learn and understand the artistic values and skills required to succeed in the animation field as well as become successful entrepreneurs.

OBJECTIVES

This programme is designed to produce:

  • Graduates who are knowledgeable, competent and innovative who will contribute towards the requirement of the human capital in creative industries.
  • Graduates who possess excellent leadership skills, as well as outstanding verbal, non-verbal and interpersonal skills, in order to function effectively in the multimedia industries.
  • Graduates who are committed in striving for continuous improvement in a life long learning.

2 Select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and tools to design solutions with understanding of the limitations to meet specified needs.

4 Demonstrate awareness and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of animation practice.

Semester 1

Throughout this semester, students will be exposed to various terminologies and basic concepts related to animation, technopreneurship and communication skills. These skills are vital for a smooth transition to the following semester.

Semester 2

In this semester, students will acquire skills and knowledge related to pre-pro animation development which have a fundamental function in the field of animation. These skills will help students for a more advanced study in the subsequent semesters.

Semester 3

In this semester, students will be introduced to the initial process of animation.

Semester 4

In this semester, students will be exposed to a more advanced concept, skill and animation technique as subjects offered will focus on 3D animation. The students will also be exposed to additional skills on database concept and web development.

Semester 5

In this semester, students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed in the production of animation and film. The subjects offered in this semester shall develop students’ skills and capabilities in animation areas which will subsequently support the project development in the Final year.

Semester 7

In the Final year, students shall produce an animation project for their Final Year Project (FYP). The project, which is based on industry standard, shall later on be commercialised.

Semester 8

A well-structured internship or industrial training programme will be incorporated in the Final semester. The main objective of the internship programme, which is done in collaboration with the respective industry, is to further enhance the students’ employability upon graduation. In all cases, students will gain an invaluable insight into the creative multimedia industry and be better equipped to position themselves for their chosen careers.

We provide opportunities for the students to take up Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) certifications, an industry recognized credential that can be used to effectively validate one’s skills in Adobe digital media software.

The ACA certifications are made available in the following softwares:
